Who We Are
The Right to Wear White is a Christ-centered, non-profit organization devoted to the unobscured teaching of the Biblical message of purity. The Right to Wear White is a subsidiary of Rising Oaks Ministries Inc. and is not affiliated with any specific denomination or church group.
What We Do
Through our annual retreats and other events, we strive to encourage girls of all ages, with the help of their moms and other mentors, to discover the truth and freedom that can be found in their heavenly Father’s message of purity. We believe that this is one of the strongest contributions a young woman can make towards achieving emotional freedom in her day-to-day life and a rock-solid foundation for her future marriage.
We have an ecumenical focus and welcome people of all faiths to our events.
Where We’re Going
We are very excited about where God is taking this ministry, and are seeking ways to grow our ministry to accommodate the huge demand for solid Biblical teaching on sexual purity that we encounter every year. Since the very first retreat in 2003, when Dawn and Laura ran themselves ragged to get everything done, God has blessed us with a wonderful team of passionate people, including retreat leaders, decorators, counselors, and pastors.
We consistently meet out-of-town visitors who express interest in holding retreats in their own communities. In 2008, we were blessed with the opportunity to take the retreat on the road for the first time, holding one in Ontario in addition to our regular Edmonton retreat. Since then, we have expanded into two other Alberta communities and look forward to further growth.
Though devoted, our core group of volunteer leaders can’t possibly keep up with our current rate of growth, so we are in the process of creating a retreat package which will enable individuals or churches to hold Right to Wear White retreats in their own communities. Stay tuned for updates on this.
About Our Founder, Dawn Magee
Dawn and her husband Terry live in Edmonton, Alberta near their two sons, Ian and Cory, and their one granddaughter, Madison. They greatly value spending time with family and have a shared goal of helping to build connections throughout the Christian community so that the kingdom of God can grow and be strengthened. They worship at Eaglemont Christian Church (just south of Edmonton in the community of Beaumont), where Dawn sits on the pastoral council.
Dawn is passionate about ministry and works closely with Terry in almost everything she does. Together, they are involved in community outreaches, small group ministry, music ministry and teaching Sunday school. In addition to facilitating The Right to Wear White, Dawn is a successful freelance motivational and inspirational speaker and a sought-after business and life coach. She speaks across Canada in businesses and churches. Dawn received her diploma in business administration, specializing in sales and marketing, in 1995. In 2003, she founded the Christ Centered Professionals Club with the goal of bringing Christ back into the marketplace through teaching, mentoring and supporting Christians in business.
Dawn and Terry oversee the Canadian operations of The Shepherd’s Guide, a Christian business and ministry directory. In addition to publishing The Shepherd’s Guide for the greater Edmonton area, they have developed the publication in fifteen additional Canadian areas.
